Photo Restrictions - II - 01/21/2003
...

In many museums you need a permit, which sometimes is cost-free, but at other times may cost you half a fortune, especially if you want to use a tripod!

In some countries, you may unwittingly include a public building or a military facility in your photo, which may result in the confiscation of your film and/or camera.

This happened to me a long time ago when taking a picture out of a train in Yugoslavia (it wasn't yet "former Yugoslavia at the time") and Algeria.

Does anybody here have personal experiences of such restrictions or any tips and tricks on how to avoid them?!

Laurenz
