Pack a tripod? - I - 01/12/2003
On some of my trips, I hardly ever used a tripod - for example, when trekking in Nepal (although it helped me produce some very amazing shots at dawn in the Anapurna).

So, I made the mistake of leaving my tripod at home on a trip to Egypt. If you were around at Luxor or Assuan at the same time: I was the guy who was building makeshift 'beanbags' made of books or cloth on temple walls, to capture the early morning light or take some night pictures with a long exposure.
Mostly, this was possible, although sometimes I was not able to get the right angle from such a contraption.
Since then, I always have a small mini tripod IN my photo bag and in th general baggage, there's the big one that I take with me when I venture out at dawn or in the evening.
