Appaloosa Regional Club
The Appaloosa horse was developed by the Nez Perce Indians of the Pacific Northwest. The early settlers called this the Palouse horse. “Palouse” eventually became Appaloosa. This horse breed almost died out, but we are fortunate that various breeders kept it going until a registry was developed in 1938. This horse breed is often used as a stock horse and for western riding competitions. It is often found in movies. This breed has a distinctive leopard spot coat, striped hooves and a distinctive white sclera around its eyes. Today, this is one of the most popular horse breeds. These websites will help you learn more about this horse breed and where you may find an Appaloosa Regional Club to attend their meetings or horse shows.
